Frozen treats - that's what this brutal summer heat call for to help your chickens stay cool!
You can freeze fruits and vegetables but have you thought about freezing yogurt? Yes, your flock can have plain, unsweetened yogurt as a treat every once in awhile. I say keep it as a treat because of the sugars that come naturally in the milk. Chickens have a difficult time processing sugars but a little bit every now and then is actually good for a healthy gut!
Ingredients & Directions
Making frozen yogurt treats is actually very simple to do!
1. Just spoon some plain, unsweetened and unflavored yogurt (add some fruit for a really special treat) into an ice cube or silicon mold (you can even use a muffin tin)
2. Place it into your freezer overnight
3. They can be stored in an air tight container or ziplock bag until you're ready to use them!
What other creative treats have you discovered to help beat the heat? I'd love to hear about them!
